Capstone Research Sources 3

            Another good source for my capstone is Influence: Science & Practice by Robert Cialdini . This book was suggested to me by Dr. Kushin and is also the assigned text for his 402 Persuasion and Messaging class. This is a great resource for a persuasive campaign because the author talks in depth about the six principles of influence: reciprocation, commitment and consistency, social proof, liking, authority, and scarcity. These are tools that I could potentially use in my social media campaign to persuade my audience to see my point of view.             When I was doing research to decide what communications theories would be best for my project I came across an interesting study titled Perception and Reality: A National Evaluation of Social Norms Marketing Interventions to Reduce College Students’ Heavy Alcohol Use*. Capstone Research Sources 2

        At this point I am pretty sure I am going to be doing a social media campaign for my capstone project, so the most recent research I have been doing is on how to run a successful social media campaign.  The first helpful post I found was a blogpost on Hootsuite by Evan LePage and Christina Newberry.  The article is titled "How to Create a Social Media Marketing Strategy in 8 Easy Steps" and explains in detail 8 steps to preparing, carrying out, and evaluating your campaign after the fact. https://blog.hootsuite.com/how-to-create-a-social-media-marketing-plan/         Another interesting source I found was an article called " Strategies for Implementing a Tobacco-Free Campus Policy" that comes from the Journal of American College Health.  This is potentially the topic of my campaign so this information could be very helpful in creating content, etc.  Tavis J.
