VALS Survey
Today I want to discuss my results on the VALS survey.  My primary result was experiencers.  When I read over the websites description of experiencers I found that I thought it was quite an accurate result.  It said that experiencers have high resources and a self-expression motivation, and that members of this group typically want everything, follow trends, and are up on the latest fashions.  This is true of me, I always want things, and I like to keep up with what’s new/popular.  It also mentioned that experiencers like physical activity and are spontaneous which I also think reflects me.  I would always rather be out doing something fun, making memories, than sitting at home.  Experiencers also consider themselves very sociable and believe that friends are extremely important.  I have always been a people person.  I love being around people and meeting new people, and I value my family and friends more than anything.  I thought that everything on this list was a spot on description of me.

My secondary result was achievers.  I found a lot of the achiever qualities related to me, but not as many as experiencers.  I suppose that makes it an appropriate secondary.  It says that members of this group have a “me first, my family first” attitude and are committed to their family and job.  This is 100% true, my family and my job are definitely two of the most important things to me.  It also says that they are fully scheduled, goal oriented, and hardworking.  My life is definitely very busy and I like to keep it very scheduled to help me out.  I like to set goals for myself and I like to think that I am a hard worker.  They also say achievers are peer conscious and anchors of the status quo.  Whether I like it or not, I do pay a lot of attention to my peers, and I definitely like things done the way they are “supposed” to be.  As I mentioned there are a few things on this list that I don’t think apply to me as much.  Examples of these would be private, professional, and that they believe money is the source of authority.  I am not private at all.  I share all aspects of my life with friends and family, probably more than I should.  I wouldn’t say I’m not professional.  I’m definitely professional when I need to be but I don’t have an overly professional personality.  I think the money thing is true in a sense, but at the same time I don’t think money is that important.  The amount of money you have shouldn’t determine how much authority you have.

I would go ahead and say my survey results were pretty accurate.  My primary results were spot on, the entire description sounded just like me.  My secondary results were pretty accurate as well.  Most of the list applied to me with just a few exceptions.
